His resistance to modern music cost the famous pianist, composer and psychiatrist Hans Henkemans (1913-1995) dearly. Three musical adherents try to rescue him from oblivion.
All his life, the famous Dutch pianist, composer and psychiatrist Hans Henkemans was looking for 'the essence' of music. He waged war against modern music, and came off worst. Twenty-five years after his death, his 'musical sons' Ed Spanjaard, Jac van Steen and Melchior Huurden look back on their friendship with Henkemans and his remarkable oeuvre. They feel the time is right to bring his forgotten work to the attention of a new generation of Dutch musicians, including pianists Lucas and Arthur Jussen, Nikola Meeuwsen and violinist Liza Ferschtman.
