‘Don’t lose courage’, are the last words of Hella de Jonge’s Jewish grandmother. A parting word before being deported to Auschwitz. De Jonge came across the thin sheet of paper the words were written on in the legacy of her great-aunt Ro. She and De Jonge’s parents were the sole survivors of the Nazi atrocities. In an intimate documentary full of photographs, footage and candid conversations with her father Eli Asser, Hella de Jonge breaks the silence surrounding her sorrowful family history, and father and daughter finally grow closer.
