In the stormy night of 13 January 1916, the dykes burst at several places in the Netherlands. Large parts of Noord-Holland, almost all cities around the former Zuider Zee and several cities in Zuid-Holland are flooded. Photographers make thousands of pictures of the seawater that remains in the inundated province of Noord-Holland. These pictures constitute the building blocks of this impressionistic photo documentary that lends a face to the forgotten flood.
