Feature based on a novella by Bruce Chatwin. Baron Kaspar von Utz from Prague collects precious Meissen porcelain. When he dies, a friend of his, the New York gallery owner Marius Fischer, hopes to get his hands on the nobleman's rare collection. But when he arrives in Prague, the collection has disappeared. The gallery owner unravels a mystery surrounding his friend, who was addicted to collecting. For his rendition of Baron von Utz, Armin Mueller-Stahl won the Silver Bear for Best Actor at the Berlin film festival.
