After the death of their mother, two elderly brothers attempt to clear away the wreckage of the past. The filmmaker finds himself drawn ever deeper into the mystery surrounding their long-vanished father (and his grandfather).
Elderly brothers René and Rob can't live with each other, but can't live without each other either. René lives as a recluse and is a hoarder of the first order. Filmmaker Tom Fassaert films his father Rob's weekly visits to his uncle, and their fixed roles as carer and patient. Their mutual irritation is just as genuine as their affection. An old mystery surfaces in the family archive: in their childhood, their father vanished without a trace. In the earlier A Family Affair (2015), Fassaert sought out their elusive mother. This follow-up has already been well received at several festivals.
