When war breaks out, ten-year old Toda abruptly becomes a refugee. War is a crazy thing and adults are strange in this slightly absurdist adaptation of Joke van Leeuwen' s children's book.
What does it feel like to live in a war zone and be forced to flee? In this slightly absurdist adaptation of Joke van Leeuwen’ s eponymous children’s book, ten-year-old Toda is suddenly on her own when war breaks out and her baker father is called to the front. Toda embarks on a challenging journey to her mother, who lives in another country. On the way, she learns to fend for herself and how to deal with strange situations, and she encounters some extraordinary individuals and finds a new friend.
