Joined by her mother, a couple of school friends and a lover, Ukrainian documentary filmmaker Mariia Ponomarova brings back memories of a place that played an important role in their lives.
A photograph of a flat in Kyiv. It is the place where the Ukrainian documentary filmmaker Mariia Ponomarova, who currently lives in Amsterdam, grew up. She was twelve when she moved to that 15th floor in 2002. She thought it was quite scary, that high up, she explains, while she, along with her mother, three college friends and a lover, recalls their coming of age and rooftop flirtations. Meanwhile, the image zooms out in steps, until it is suddenly 22 June 2022 and we understand everything.
