In Ukraine in 2017, the Soviet KGB archive full of observation files is released. What is the impact on citizens when they find out the state has watched them for years?
A dissident Ukrainian woman, a Dutch amateur spy and a French tourist who fifty years ago was betrayed by her ‘lover’ are confronted with their personal Soviet KGB archive files, which were released in 2017 in Ukraine. How do citizens, now knowing they used to be watched and followed, look back on their past? Through their stories and publicised files, this documentary portrays a period when the paranoia of the Soviet regime deeply permeated the fibre of personal lives.
