Visual spectacle by Dutch filmmaker Lucas van Woerkum combined with Stravinsky’s classic tunes. The Radio Philharmonic Orchestra plays this composition live with Van Woerkum’s new Symphonic Cinema production, his images giving the Russian fairy-tale a special cinematic touch. The filmmaker is among the orchestra members to perfectly synchronise the tempo of the film with the performance.
Synopsis
Magical realistic film, based on the Russian fairy tale The Firebird, on music by Igor Stravinsky. After the death of his wife, Emperor Kashkei lives in solitude in his memories. In a deserted castle he's being looked after by his enchanted servants. Kashkei's neglected daughter can't stand this situation and uses her magical powers to confront her father.
