Via a series of conversations with members of the blended family he comes from himself, the filmmaker tries to find out what makes a family a family.
Documentary filmmaker Huibert van Wijk wonders if he will ever want to start his own family. With these doubts as the leitmotif, he plunges into the complex situation of the family he comes from himself. As a result of divorces, adoptions and second marriages, he grew up in a blended family in which none of the four children shares two biological parents. What is it that makes a family a family? And how does our shared family history resound in the persons we have become? These questions pop up when unravelling this personal history.
