This family drama is one of a six-part series of TV films especially made for Dutch public broadcasting. The story covers a weekend in the life of the teenager Suzy ten Cate in the South of Amsterdam in 1967. Relations in her family are pretty strange and the mood is oppressive. Suzy's unemployed father takes an unhealthy interest in her sexuality and her indifferent mother noses around inquisitively in the private lives of her children. While all the members of the family try to keep their heads above water in their own way, Suzy flees in a fantasy world that becomes reality when she forces a meeting with the legendary pop stars Mick Jagger and Marianne Faithfull, in their hotel room. No one believes her adventure and Suzy suddenly sees her family through very different eyes. Suzy Q is based on scriptwriter Frouke Fokkema's own experiences when she met the pop idols in the sixties.
