From being a military stronghold, the Russian city of Kronstadt changes into a tourist destination. This experiment with photographic colour separation emphasises the state the city is in, between past and future.

Since the departure of part of the Baltic Fleet, Kronstadt is no longer a closed military zone. With the renovated cathedral at its heart, the city reconsiders its destination. In this experimental film, the photographic process of colour separation emphasises the city’s current state, between past and future: the heroic turbulent history, changing ideologies and expanding tourism. Second film in a series of art works inspired by Sergey Prokudin-Gorskii’s photography.
