This avant-garde classic by Joris Ivens, the best-known Dutch documentary filmmaker, had its première at the Filmliga, a group of intellectuals who early on recognised the artistic potential of the medium. The cinematic poem shows a passing rain shower in Amsterdam. A silent series of black-and-white images, a mantra of forms, light and shadow. In 2007 admitted to the "Canon van de Nederlandse Film", a list of the most important Dutch films.
