Two partners who are separated by the refugee crisis move heaven and earth to be reunited when their son Rafaël will be born. Romantic drama, inspired by true events.
During the Arab Spring, the Tunisian Nazir and his pregnant Dutch wife Kimmy feel compelled to flee. The Netherlands denies Nazir access, so Kimmy is forced to leave for her native country alone. Nazir, who absolutely wants to witness the birth of his child, ventures to cross the Mediterranean on one of the many rickety boats. As soon as he disembarks at Lampedusa, he is locked up as an illegal refugee. Heavily pregnant, Kimmy leaves for Italy, determined to get Nazir released. A thrilling story about borders and bureaucracy, dreams, willpower and love that can’t be reined in.
