As a child, American artist Nan Hoover (1931-2008) did not play with other children much. She preferred to watch the boats sail by at sea. The ‘coming and going’ theme would stay with her all her life. At eight years old, Hoover decided to become an artist. She lived in the Netherlands for a long time. This documentary is an episode in a series of artistic films in which three exceptional women look back on their lives. They all followed their passion and lived the life of their dreams, but at what price?
