When Eveline’s brand-new camera is stolen, she lays it on thick to cash the insurance money. Her little lie sparks an unforeseen chain reaction in this, also visually, striking tragedy full of irony.
Game show host Eveline (Hadewych Minis) wants to lead a more meaningful life. Yousef (Golden Calf winner Shahine El-Hamus) wants to have the cool sunglasses his classmates have. Their paths cross when Yousef, incited by his friends, steals Eveline’s brand-new camera. When reporting the crime, Eveline exaggerates things and says she was threatened with a knife. What starts as a little lie sparks a chain reaction of consequences. This unconventionally executed satirical tragedy by director Sam de Jong was already awarded at the Best Istanbul Film Festival and Vancouver Independent Film Festival.
