Meneer L.

Director: Thomas Stokmans
An Asian tourist ends up in an asylum seekers’ centre after losing his passport. Resorting to non-verbal communication, he strikes up some special friendships there. Based on a true story.
After dozing off under a windmill and being abandoned by his fellow travellers, an Asian tourist wakes up dazed and confused, without his personal belongings. People regard him as an asylum seeker and, since he is unable to explain his situation, he ends up in an asylum seekers’ centre on a large cruise ship in Amsterdam. Trapped in the bureaucracy of his 'asylum application', and despite the fact he doesn’t share a language with anyone, he strikes up some special friendships here. Based on a true story, with amateur actors and refugees playing themselves.
