Marlou Fernanda, waar ga ik heen?

Director: Denise Janzée
Multidisciplinary artist Marlou Fernanda searches for meaning, creativity, and spirituality. For years, the Rotterdam-based artist has been making waves with her visual work, which explores the themes of loneliness, racial inequality, and questions of life.
Known for her colorful works featuring portraits of her own face, her style is increasingly shifting toward abstract forms. Documentary filmmaker Denise Janzée follows her in her studio and on assignment in New York, where her quest takes shape. Marlou speaks candidly about her parents' divorce and the muscular dystrophy that affects her mother's speech. They drive her to weave together language, emotion, and art. Determined, vulnerable, and always in motion, she shows how personal experiences transform into new and vibrant art.
