You can’t choose your family. Or you can, in the case of the Rotterdam-based mother Ma’MaQueen, her six drag children and her three cats.
Ma’MaQueen has created a safe haven for her six drag children, who can’t rely on their blood relatives’ sympathy at home. The rejection by your family causes personal problems and a negative self-image. Being a drag briefly makes them forget all this. The turbulent quest for identity and acceptance in a society where pigeonholing is the norm is not a bed of roses in this documentary. Under Mama’s wings, they feel secure and understood. Among each other, they find support, security and a home where fantasy becomes reality.
