A social comedy about the disturbed relationship between mothers and sons, against the background of today's consumer society.
De baby en de bakfiets is a social comedy about the disturbed relationship between mothers and sons, against the background of today's consumer society. The story is about rag-and-bone man Willem Slootkant who does his rounds of household rubbish every day looking for useful items. In this way he finds a baby, that he takes back with him to his mother, who would lover her unmarried son to have children. They assume the baby has been dumped by a junkie, but when the child protection agency is warned, the baby turns out to belong to very stylish parents. But Willem and his mother still wonder how the baby ended up in the rubbish. The baby's older brother is meanwhile starting to feel neglected, because of all the panic about the little one.
