Short fiction film around an imaginary meeting of five world-renowned black women. They played an essential, but at the same time undeservedly invisible role in the legendary Négritude movement, an organisation for black emancipation.
Fictitious meeting of five women who played an important, but undeservedly invisible role within the Négritude movement, an organisation for black emancipation. This artistic representation corrects their underexposed contribution, by literally lending them a voice and a stage. Their gathering is set against the backdrop of the First International Congress of Black Writers and Artists held at the Sorbonne in Paris in 1956, which the five women - Josephine Baker, Suzanne Césaire, Frida Kahlo, Paulette and Jeanne Nardal – could have attended, historically speaking.
