Louis Paul Boon’s novel De Kapellekensbaan triggers a documentary about this Belgian connecting road that really exists. In search of the spirit of this extraordinary book.
Louis Paul Boon’s novel De Kapellekensbaan triggers a cinematographic journey to the actual Kapellekensbaan: a road connecting Aalst and Erembodegem in Belgium. The road is lined with a few houses, two tumble-down factories and sections of unusable swampland. The documentary is a conversation between the writer Boontje andthe filmmaker, who wants to find back the book, which he feels at home in, in reality. The filmmaker’s words and images enter into a dialogue with Boontje, who ‘speaks’ through excerpts from his book.
