La fille inconnue

Director: Jean-Pierre Dardenne, Luc Dardenne
Social-realist drama about a committed young doctor who discovers too late that a girl was at her door. The girl is later found dead. Could the medic have prevented it?
Jenny, a committed young family doctor from a town near Liège, is winding up the day’s work when there’s a ring at the door. She does not open it. The next day, a dead girl has been found in the river. It is the girl that came to Jenny’s door for help. The medic is unable to dismiss the thought she may be accountable. As an atonement, she tries to retrieve the girl’s identity, so she won’t be buried anonymously. Social-realist drama in which a tough young woman wants to set an affair right by any means. Not everyone is grateful for this.
