Poetic narration of how, during the 1940 bombing of Rotterdam, a girl tries to flee the horror on her figure skates.
Outside, the war rages. Inside, a girl tries to preserve her own gentle world. The world is almost black-and-white, the contours of the image are blurred. The door of the attic room blows open with a creak. The girl looks up with a start; her figure is barely visible in the window. She puts on her figure skates to flee to a quiet, wintry landscape. But the piano music is abruptly interrupted by the ominous sound of approaching planes.
