Kort Rotterdams - Donnie

Director: Willem Baptist
Donnie (11) has problems with his mother’s boyfriend and tries his best to get him out of her life. When he seems to succeed, the result is not what he had hoped for.
Eleven-year-old Donnie is trying to obtain his swimming certificate. Meanwhile, his mother has a boyfriend that Donnie doesn’t get along with. He tries all sorts of things to banish him from his mother’s life. Donnie eventually seems to succeed, but the result is not what he had envisaged.
Short social-realistic slice of life, about growing up in an emotional vacuum and the inability to really connect, emphasised by the apartment blocks, the tiled swimming pool and a desolate industrial zone.
