A research team tries to unravel the mystery of the 25 still existing paintings by Jheronimus Bosch. For five years, the experts travel all over the world. Using sophisticated technology, they penetrate the works down to their deepest layers of paint. Were all the paintings really made by Bosch himself? The focal point of the research adventure is the weird and wonderful imaginary world of this medieval 'sorcerer'. In addition, the documentary reveals the political game played by Het Noordbrabants Museum to get as many works as possible to the large Bosch retrospective exhibition in Den Bosch.
