Pure road movie in which twin sisters in the cramped cab of a clapped-out camper have to face their (non-existent) bond with their unknown biological mother. Outside, New Mexico presents itself in all its vastness.

Pure road movie examines the longing for a maternal bond of two sisters who are unexpectedly called by their American mother whom they have never met. She asks her twin daughters Sofie and Daan, who have been raised by two fathers, to drive her to a rehabilitation centre. Sofie is not interested in this ‘supplier of egg-cells’, but Daan has always fantasised about her mother and would love to go to the States. Before they know it, they are driving a clapped-out camper, together with the mysterious and maladjusted Jackie (Oscar winner Holly Hunter), across the imposing plains of New Mexico. Outside is ample space, but inside, in the cramped cab full of pent up emotions, the sisters are forced to abandon all assumptions about themselves and their unknown mother.
