Piet Hein Eek is seen as one of the leading and most successful designers of applied art in The Netherlands. To a large audience from both home and abroad, he is known for his furniture made from reclaimed wood. In Eindhoven, he and his best friend Nob Ruijgrok opened a factory with adjoining store, gallery, event hall and restaurant. Documentary filmmaker Niek Koppen closely followed Eek from 2009 to 2016. It is the story of two friends who build up a small empire. Due to the growth and the challenges this presents, their collaboration is strained.
