The reno­va­tion of the Amsterdam Rijksmu­seum in the early 21st century even­tu­ally took longer than its orig­inal construc­tion in the second half of the 19th century. The project was hampered by unman­age­able forces and unan­tic­i­pated setbacks, but after a decade the reopening could finally be cele­brated with a splendid fire­works display. Oeke Hoogendijk captured the entire process, from 2003 to 2013, and re-edited her acclaimed four-part docu­men­tary series, comple­mented with new footage, into this cinema film.
