Short youth documentary about Merle’s first Communion. Merle (8) is looking forward to this special day in church, but she also struggles with some questions. Will things really change when she eats the sacred host?
Merle (8) lives in a village in the south of the Netherlands. Soon, she will make her first Communion in church, just like her parents, grandfathers and grandmothers did before her. Merle is looking forward to the beautiful clothes and the presents she will receive for her Communion, but she does not really know what to make of the religious teacher’s stories. Does Jesus really come closer when you eat the sacred host? In chats with her grandpa, dad and classmates, she tries to find out how this really works, in this short youth documentary.
