For the third part of her four-part series about the problems of highly-educated women finding a suitable partner, Marijke Jongbloed travelled to Bombay. Unlike her previous films about New York and Singapore, the problem is now not illustrated from the point of view of the career woman, but from the perspective of both men and women of the middle and upper classes. Jongbloed shows how relationships come about in the increasingly Westernised cities of India. She shows the discrepancies between old and new; between the traditional and loveless arranged marriage in which men are dominant and the women who want, inspired by soaps, commercials and Hollywood films, to live a Western lifestyle.
