In this documentary, family and friends of Marianne van der Heijden (1922-1998) talk about the life of this fine artist from Limburg. The interviews are illustrated with images of her work - mosaics, stained-glass windows, more abstract etchings, lino-cuts and paper collages - and texts from letters and diaries she left behind. The film forms a high-contrast portrait of a woman against the background of the Limburg landscape, Catholicism and artistic life in the Netherlands after WW II.
