Feature film debut of the Dutch-Tunisian Alex Pitstra, who portrays Tunisia after the Jasmine Revolution. Abdallah, a young DVD-hawker from Tunis, dreams of a better life in Europe - or ‘Die Welt’, as his father calls it. Pitstra based the film on personal observations of Tunisia, where he met his father for the first time when he was 25 years old. He places the fictional protagonist plump in the middle of his real-life family, which results in a hybrid between documentary and fiction.
