De weg naar Cádiz

When Coen inherits a villa in Cádiz, Spain, he decides to drive there and sell the house. The journey takes an unexpected turn when his ex-girlfriend Suzanne decides to join him. On the French roads and in small hotels along the way, they try to find out what this renewed acquaintance - which may not be as spontaneous as it seems - might mean to them. They know each other so well and yet so many questions remain unanswered. 'Don't you ever have the feeling you've done everything wrong?' 'Ain't I just a boring asshole?' 'What makes you happy?' Tentative moments of hope and expectation are soon smothered again in old patterns. The company of a hitchhiker who sees things more clearly does not improve matters in this emotional road movie about friendship, love, remorse and missed opportunities whose destination gets increasingly uncertain. A special aspect of this production is that the makers are all starting artists or entrepreneurs. Many of them, like the two directors, are still attending the Netherlands Film and Television Academy.
