Darwins verstekeling

Director: Hans Fels
In Charles Darwin's wake, the VPRO, in association with Canvas and Teleac, sailed around the world on the Clipper Stad Amsterdam for almost a year in 2009. An adventurous expedition that particularly examined changes to the earth and looked for an answer to the question how our planet is doing. The British writer - of a couple of international bestsellers about remote places - Redmond O'Hanlon came aboard the clipper in Plymouth as a special guest. He completed the entire sailing expedition. Through his eyes, the spectator witnesses exotic countries and big oceans, the activities on board and life behind the scenes. Darwins verstekeling sheds light on the expedition and shows the amazement and the immense beauty of the earth. The documentary was culled from the TV series and complemented with previously unscreened footage.
