Macabre, absurdist thriller about Borgman, a stranger who rings at the door of a modernistic villa and asks if he can take a bath. Once inside, it turns out he is not planning to leave. Aided by a few accomplices, he initiates a series of events that take on increasingly bizarre forms, gradually crumbling the carefully erected façade of the villa residents. The first Dutch film in 38 years to participate in the main competition at Cannes.
