Body Language

Director: Jeffrey Elmont
Five dancers who don’t know each other go to New York on spec to participate in a dance contest and run into practical and romantic problems.

At the airport, a group of dancers - a delegation of the best Dutch dance crews - is informed their trip to an important contest in New York has been cancelled. Everybody slinks off, except three boys and two girls. They decide to take part in the contest as a team, but they don’t know each other and have different dance styles. In the Big Apple, this produces the necessary problems and occasional romantic confrontations. The film gives ample room to the young dance talents that play the leading roles, including Floris Bosveld, the winner of So You Think You Can Dance in 2010, and the free-running Lorenzo van Velzen Bottazzi, the runner up that year. The dancing is not limited to images of rehearsals and the ultimate dance battle, but is also used to express intense emotions in various scenes.
