The true story of the Dutch Bettien Martens, who reveals herself in the late 1980s as a successful businesswoman and manages to get through to the highest echelons of the international drug cartels.
TV film is an adaptation of criminologist Frank Bovenkerk's book of the same name. It tells the true story of the young Dutch woman Bettien Martens who, following a disastrous event in the late eighties, starts a new life on the Spanish island of Mallorca. Through the charming Alberto, she lands in the world of glitter and glamour, the world of the jet set, but also of drugs and crime. When Alberto is forced by circumstances to leave Mallorca, Bettien is compelled to go to Colombia with him. There, she meets his boss. This is the beginning of a life in which Bettien will reveal herself as a successful businesswoman and manage to work her way up to the highest echelons of international drug cartels. Hans Pos's directing debut was shot with an international cast.
