Portrait of life and work of famous Dutch author Arnon Grunberg, by means of interviews he gives around his fortieth birthday party in Argentina.
On 22 February 2011, the famous Dutch author Arnon Grunberg celebrated his fortieth birthday in the Argentinean city of Salta. Those invited included filmmaker David Kleijwegt. The theme of Grunberg’s 35th birthday in Dublin was ‘do you have friends’, which generated the starting point of this documentary. Interviews with Grunberg himself, his mother and a choice selection of invitees produce a well-balanced portrait. It turns out the writer’s life and work are closely interwoven.
