Film described as a 'mid-life road-movie' in which the filmmakers visit three places called Amsterdam. Following in the footsteps of the sailors Cornelis Houtman and Willem Barentz, their expedition takes them from the Dutch capital to two islands of the same name. One is somewhere in the South Pacific, the other is part of Spitsbergen, surrounded by ice in the Arctic Ocean.
