Documentary providing an impression of different facets of the explosive growth of the US gambling industry.
Documentary providing an impression of different facets of the explosive growth of the US gambling industry. The film portrays gamblers and casino bosses, but also shows the role of television, the computer industry, the help lines for gambling addicts and the pawn shops. Director Bernie IJdis criss-crossed the United States and on his journey regularly filmed locations where outsiders are only very rarely admitted. For instance, behind the scenes of a casino or at a party to mark the admission of the South Afrikan founder of the Sun City and Lost City gambling palaces to the gambling industry's Hall of Fame. The documentary A Dreamscape has a kaleidoscopic structure targeted at focusing attention on society rather than individuals.
