Part of the four-part film Zwaarmoedige verhalen voor bij de centrale verwarming (Melancholy Tales) based on short stories filled with black humour by Heere Heeresma. A lonely old man spends his twilight years looking after the cat and sticking up bird feathers. Around Christmas he is suddenly flooded with attention, but he doesn't appreciate the paternalism. Then everything goes wrong.
