1932. The Afsluitdijk is about to tame the Zuiderzee. Though it promises a better future for his children, fisherman Roelof cannot let go of the past. In this animation, he makes a drastic decision.

In this subtle, quiet animated film, Roelof watches with sorrow as the Afsluitdijk nears completion. With the closing off of the Zuiderzee, the devastating floods will become a thing of the past, and so will his livelihood as a fisherman. While his son Dirk is excited about the future, Roelof arrives at a tragic conclusion. Under a false pretext, he leaves his family behind to set sail one final time. When he discovers that Dirk has secretly stowed away on board, he's faced with an agonising dilemma.
