Can we see the violence of the painter's hands in the brush strokes of his paintings? Could cross-stitch be an alphabet? This experimental film examines how traumatic memories can emerge in artistic expressions.
Experimental mix of dramatized film, archive footage and animation, in which the filmmaker examines which memories can be transferred via the hands. Can we see the violence of the painter’s hand in the brush strokes of his paintings? Or the desires of textile artists in their embroidery? Pictures from the director’s family album play a key role. They are also reservoirs of memories, although specific memories – of domestic violence and trauma that spread for generations – were left out of the album. By editing the pictures and bringing them to life, the filmmaker tries to unearth deeper layers.
