Documentary which is part of the youth series YOY about the turbulent life of a young refugee. Mitra is sixteen and has already lived in seven countries. She was born in Iran but had to leave her country for political reasons. After her flight, she lived with her parents in Iraq for several years. The Gulf War again tore up her young life. All on her own, Mitra left for Holland where she found a home with a family near Amsterdam. She hasn't seen her parents for more than two years. In The Suitcase of Memories, Mitra talks openly about her restless and nomadic life, her ideals, continuously saying goodbye, Dutch culture and the scent of homesickness.
