How can you square the obsessive love for a Hollywood actor with the total absence of men in someone’s personal life? Filmmaker dives into her mother’s past (of sexual abuse) and the trauma that was handed down.
‘Sex does funny things to people’, are the first words in Why My Mum Loves Russell Crowe. This personal quest does not focus on just sex, but on sexual abuse at the age of twelve. Years later, the event still casts a shadow on life – also on that of the daughter, who, armed with a camera and questions, looks for answers and explanations from her mother and her mother’s best friends.
