One film set, 53 women and a handful of men, one question: what keeps inequality between men and women alive? In this documentary series, the women search for answers.
It's 2026, and women's equality remains under pressure worldwide. Why does true equality remain so hard to achieve? In this documentary series, 53 women set out to find an answer. On a film set, the experiences of two courageous women, who have both endured oppression and relationship violence, are re-enacted. Around this, a diverse group of women share their personal experiences and expertise on why it's so difficult to break free from gender roles. In doing so, the film unpicks the structures that keep inequality in place — from culture, upbringing and economics, to biology, sexuality and power.
