'Why don't you leave?' is the question victims of domestic violence are most frequently asked, and it isn’t an easy one to answer. What’s more, it implies that the victim is also guilty, feeding the sense of shame, guilt and low self-esteem. In eight short audio episodes illustrated with animations, Rubina and her neighbour Anneke tell their story. Waarom ga je niet weg? is both an interactive documentary and a website offering insights into the patterns of domestic violence, and providing onlookers with tools to offer a helping hand.
