About the power of language as a formative factor of a new identity. Sergej Kreso, a new Dutchman himself, portrays a Turkish policeman on the beat, an adopted Haitian boy (12), a dark-skinned drum major and a Slovenian miner’s daughter in his province of Limburg. By adopting the Limburg dialect, they started feeling at home in their new living environment and are no longer considered strangers.
