Film about the plebiscite in Chile in October 1988, when the Chileans said ‘no’ to Pinochet.
Direct-cinema film about the plebiscite on 5 October 1988 in which the Chilean people could express whether they supported a continuation of Pinochet’s dictatorship or preferred democracy. The film starts in black-and-white on the day before the plebiscite and follows different people in their campaign to utter a massive ‘no’ against Pinochet. When the ‘no’ voters gain victory and Pinochet is voted out, the film switches to colour, but that immediately changes back to black-and-white when retaliatory measures are taken again.
